Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important representative said the attack left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
